Beta: Twuffer, GTwit, TweetLater – Some Great New Twitter Tools

So are you annoyed with twitter yet or are you hooked on it? Seems that Twitter has made it to the main stream or it’s getting that way. If you are unfamiliar with Twitter, take a look at this video to familiarize yourself. I have discovered some interesting emerging apps that maybe useful to some Twitterers. This week we look at Twuffer which is a Twitter buffer, GTwit provides a Google search to your tweets, and TweetLater which lets you auto follow and auto welcome.

Twuffer calls its app a “Twitter buffer”; a way for you to schedule tweets. Have you ever wanted to post date a tweet? How about pretending you never sleep and keep the tweets going 24 hours a day or just Twitter an appointment or schedule a reminder? Well Twuffer lets you do just those types of things. You simply sign in using your Twitter account then adjust your settings and start queuing up your tweets. It is really that simple. The interface is very nice, clean and intuitive and it works as advertised. It is a pretty simple concept and idea and Grady Britton, a Portland, Oregon full-service marketing and advertising company pull it off well. It is really that simple of an app which I could see useful at some point. Right now I don’t need this but for some of you out there this may be what you have been looking for.

GTwit takes Google and mashes it up with Twitter. What you get is a way to search your own tweets as well as post via their interface. And speaking about that interface, ugh, the application is an eye-sore and not very user friendly. From the sign-up process to actually using the application it is lackluster. While the concept is great, and as we know Twitter is lacking in such a search feature, the execution needs work. The searching is the best part of the app and works well, but everything else just doesn’t work and it is definitely a proof of concept. I would deem it more of an alpha release than a public beta. The log-out link doesn’t even work. If you need to search your tweets for something specific, try it out and it should do the job. I hope that GTwit works out their user interface and functional issues.

TweetLater allows you to not only schedule a Tweet but also create automatic welcome messages as well as auto follow those that follow you. So, like Twuffer, Tweetlater also lets you schedule tweets, so nothing new here. But, it’s only polite to welcome those that follow you on twitter and with TweetLater you can do it without actually doing it. Once you sign-up for an account and sign in you can edit your settings and setup an automatic welcome tweet to those that follow you. It is a pretty cool feature and being able to set it and forget it is really nice. The interface is okay, it could use some work, but functionality-wise it is pretty good and full-featured. Check it out.

If you know of any other cool and helpful new twitter applications in alpha or beta, please put them in the comments for all of us to check out.
