Bizequity: What’s your business worth?

Bizequity asks the question “What’s your Business Worth?” and delivers a pretty interesting service. If you are a business person or into business valuations this just may be the site for you. Think of Zillow but instead of residential home valuation, it’s for a business valuation. You simply go to the site and do a search by company name or category and add a location. You receive search results of all the businesses that match your search form their database. It’s a cool concept and idea. Currently in beta it boasts over 10 million businesses.

The one issue with the 10 million business is that most of it is all public data. So, what does that mean? It means that the data isn’t too involved or detailed and the valuations really aren’t that great unless you get into a business which has added custom valuation data.

Custom valuations are free and part of where the BizEquity Value data will be derived from. You fill out a form with your business’s general information like revenue, employees, and business performance. You then get a report about your business valuation. This could be a very interesting tool for those selling their business.

Most business valuations have a BizEquity Value, which with an account, you can vote on how accurate you feel this is. The site shows more business information including industry and specific local business sales data. BizEquity has little graphs which give it a good visual representation.

Bizequity seems to have a lot of work to do with getting more businesses to buy in and start populating the data to get better valuations. I like the idea, and the execution seems good so far. But really this site relies on the data, which I don’t think is all there yet. I think once they get more accurate data and can provide some really spot on valuations, then this site will be a pretty cool tool. Currently the site is completely free as they are using Google ads to make some money. There isn’t any current news on any other plans for the future business model besides allowing the business owner the ability to adjust the business data and valuations.

Take a look at it and post your comments. And if anyone from BizEquity wants to comment on any new updates soon, feel free to leave a comment, too.

I find it interesting that I am now in my 5th year of business and not listed here. And, there is a business listed that closed a couple of years ago, CUTS.

Natalie, I agree our business isn’t even listed and we have been in business for over 6 years. Their is a business listing in there that sounds like ours but it is located in Buzzards Bay which isn’t true. And there really isn’t much data. I’m sure it is a little more accurate for larger companies.
