What’s Your Favorite Twitter App?

(We just started a new series of posts called “All in a Twitter” which will focus on the Twitter phenomenon and applications derived from Twitter. Enjoy! - Editor)
Just when you thought you knew everything there is to know about Twitter, BAM! Someone comes up with a new cool app or client for Twitter that you start using all the time. And it makes total sense. I think people under-appreciate the value of Twitter and these new apps that reconfigure the data and search terms and leave you with some very cool data for fun and for business.
I am going to throw some Twitter apps out there that my friends and I use and like. Now, you have to understand that there are a gazillion of apps being created - mostly useless - but the fact the brilliant team at Twitter allows anyone access to the API, anyone can use the data and create an application that may be a winner, or one that is not so useful, or maybe it is very specialized or just for their own use.
Anyway you slice it, new apps are being created every day and as long as people keep using Twitter, we are getting some very nifty applications and clients to use for everyday fun and in my case, for my business and my clients.
I will be elaborating more on each of these apps in other Twitter articles in the upcoming weeks, but here you can get a summary of them.
1.) Summize or Twitter Search (It must be a good app - Twitter bought it!) is a Twitter search engine, and most definitely the leader in this field. It is one of the apps I find is infinitely one of the greatest Twitter tools out there. The need to keep you up to date with news, and people and companies is fine on your personal timeline, but those who want more use Twitter Search. The Twitter Search allows to you to filter all the massive news and information being tweeted every second into the information you are looking for.
I will go into more things you can do with this service later, including hashtags, trends and queries.
2.) Twitterific is a wonderful Twitter client I use on my iPhone. It has a nice, clean and concise interface and is very easy to use. Some of the cool features are that it supports multiple Twitter accounts, auto refreshing at user defined intervals, replies and direct messages are displayed inline, single click access to user profile pages, switch between friend and public tweets easily, keyboard shortcuts for list navigation, and much more. I have my Twitpic (below) in my Twitterific which makes things oh so easy.
3.) Twitpic is an application that allows you to take pictures on your mobile phone and automatically post it into Twitter. I downloaded the Twitpic option on my Twitterific client which is pretty darn easy and fun.
4.) TweetRush is a pretty cool analytics tool. With TweetRush, you can to analyze the Tweet or message sending action of public messages sent via Twitter. These come from various sources, the Twitter website and the many Twitter API applications. They analyze Twitter public data, and then show it in a graph form. Its aim is to provide estimated stats on Twitter usage over a period of time.
5.) StockTwits is a Twitter application that tracks stocks online through symbols. StockTwits is an open, community-powered investment idea and information service. You can think of it as Bloomberg for the little guy/gal. Eavesdrop on what traders and talking about RIGHT NOW. Contribute and build your reputation and following as a saavy market wizard. All you need to do is follow StockTwits on twitter and prefix stock tickers with $ in your tweets.
6.) Twistori is a self-proclaimed “first step in an ongoing social experiment, based on Twitter.” It is a very sleek app that focuses on 6 feelings: love, hate, think, feel, believe, wish. When someone on Twitter states they do one of the following, such as “I hate Peyton Manning and his brother Eli sucks, too”, it will show on the site when a person chooses the “hate” feeling category. If you wish something, like “I wish I could bounce a quarter off Daniel Craig’s perfectly formed ass”. I “think” you all get the drift…
7.) CapeNetworking is a local Twitter app based upon all those located in the Cape Cod region where most of us who write on this blog reside. Inspired from Twistori, it has the same scrolling method and you can see all the tweets from locals on Twitter and find out what the Cape is doing!
8.) TwitterSnooze Have an overly loquacious person you are following on Twitter and would just love to put them on hold for a while? Well, hit the snooze button on your “verbose” Twitter friends by using TwitterSnooze. Enter their Twitter Username and the length of snooze time. You can also even announce it on Twitter if you choose.
Don’t feel as though not listing your favorite app that we won’t cover it later - I could have gone on all day!
If you would like to tell me what you like to use and why, then belly up to the bar and let us know by commenting below! Or tune in next time when we will review more Twitter apps for your business or for fun!

TweetDeck http://www.tweetdeck.com/beta/ - it’s an Adobe AIR app that runs on the desktop. In my view, I have columns for:
-All Tweets
-Replies
-DMs
-A specific group for only Cape Twitterers
-A couple global search columns (one for my name for when people forget the @, and one for whatever I”m interested in that day - today it’s jquery)
it refreshes each column individually some refresh every couple of minutes, others every 10-15.
I let it run in one of my other monitors, occasionally glancing up to see what’s going on
Awesome article! Thanks for adding StockTwits to you list :)
TwitterFox is my current favorite - great post!

Can you take me off Twitter Snooze now? I think my verbosity has been adequately chastened, n’est pas? Oh, sorry for the Frenchism, I just got off the Loic Lemeur blog entry you did.
I vote for TweetDeck, it’s the best all-in-one Twitter client.

Great post Leslie - I like using Twitterific as a desktop client as well as you don’t have to run Adobe Air….the little sound effects are great as well - little bird calls when you get a tweet.
